I never was a big Willie Nelson fan, but this has cemented my dislike for him completely. Trying to ‘ride’ on the SEMI-success of Brokeback Mountain…

Someone on the radio said about Willie and this song that he pretty much marches to his own drummer - proof positive right there! I understand he contributed to the soundtrack of Brokeback Mountain. I haven’t heard the song, but I can’t help but wonder if this was just a publicity ploy on his part, or a big joke!

Actually, Dolly Parton has been in the agenda song writing business. She said on Larry King last nite that she wrote the background song for the so-called movie Transamerica, which deals with sex-change surgery. Correct me if I’m wrong. I didn’t realize she was so desperate for money and publicity.

Just because you dont like something doesnt make it “SEMI” successful.

That being said, was he did was lame just because of the principle of jumping on the bandwagon like that.

I agree with you here. I sometimes wonder if some people don’t like something because the Church says we shouldn’t like it, or if they really and truly don’t like it.

I sure hope Willie meant it as satire or parody…cuz it sounds like something they’d do on a SNL skit!

If he was dead serious and meant it as a protest song, he’s gonna annoy a lot of cowboys…cuz he is insinuating they are secretly gay.

If he’ serious, then he’s lost his mind. But I wont stop admiring his music by a long shot…

and I want some of what ol Willie is smokin! I just wont hit it as much as he has! 😛

No, it was a pretty mindless and basal responce. I didnt really want to go and talk about all the things that were wrong with the song as I was heading out to go to mass at the moment. So I resorted to what I was simply feeling.

and before the comment is made that its hipocritical to go to mass after being so “judgemental,” remember that it is okay, even required, to despise sin and its glorificatioon in all forms. I didnt say the gay cowboys were evil, but the song was indeed gross.
 
Actually, Willie’s homo song was recorded a long time ago. He’s just trying to ride the wave with brokeback.

I guess the “tolerant” people among us can’t tolerate those of us who retch at such garbage. Basal response. That is a good way to put it. One reason I could never go to California is that I would have to carry my airsick bag from the plane down the street.

It depends on what part of California you are going to. If you want to lump us into one sum, fine stay away. But, if you want to look at the fact that there are more conservatives here then in some conservatives states… Well then welcome. I would suggest Orange County or San Diego… You can come visit me… We are prettty conservative here. 😉 😛

I had heard that Willie was given this song in 1981 and held onto it until today.
He has certainly lost quite a number of points with me.
