Hi… i have done much more reading than posting on here and surprisingly i have found that i am not obviously the only one that has to deal with the struggles/burdons of SSA. I have seen resopnses to some of the questions regarding SSA and some have mentioned the courage groups. I was wondering if anyone has tried it or who knows someone whom has used it and what their thoughts are/were. Thanks

I have not had occasion to use this group, but I have heard nothing but good about it, including an article in our archdiocesan newspaper this very week about our archbishop beginning the process to start a group in our town.

God bless you in your struggle.
Betsy

Wow, that’s amazingly insensitive to someone who’s trying very hard to live for Jesus!

And for the record: as Catholics, we are called to hate the sin. The sin is homosexual intercourse. That’s not the person. There is literally nothing wrong with having SSA - but you have to be careful to stay chaste, which I can only imagine is a long and difficult struggle. I admire any and all who attempt it.

Moreover, homosexual intercourse is a mortal sin against chastity - but so is having heterosexual intercourse without being married, masturbation, contracepting, and a failure to be open to life. It is no worse than any of those. If forhimonly had said he was struggling with masturbation, no one would have “puked”. If he had said he was trying to stop sleeping with his girlfriend, everyone would have just told him to stay chaste. This double-standard really, really makes me angry, and it goes against the basic dignity of the human person.

You’re right.My bad.I’m sorry.I was having a homophobic moment.
I offer my sincere apologies to any others I may have offended.
My only consolation is I now have yet another reason to humble myself before the Lord.I am sincerely sorry for my implications.
Thank you Pentacostbaby.
Really.

I said I’m sorry.😦
I was wrong,… OK? It won’t happen again.Really.Sometimes I just get all “fleshed-out”…

No personal experience, but what I’ve heard is that they are fairly open minded about the roots of SSA. Instead of being dogmatic that all SSA is inborn or all SSA is conditioning, they focus on helping those who experience it live chastely according to christian principles.

From having gone to school in Madison, Wisconsin I can also tell you that the gay rights activists seem extremely threatened by the very existence of Courage and frantically smear their reputation every chance they get. That’s a prerequisite for a good SSA support group, IMO! (though surely no guarantee of soundess, of course)
