I noticed the statues are covered in purple cloth at the Cathedral, but not at my small local churches.
Is it the same where you live?It could vary country to country perhaps?
Our priest (RIP)from some years back had the statues covered though.

Where I live, some churches do and some don’t. I’ve never inquired about the reasons for their decision, in either case.

It’s at the discretion of the pastor of the Church, the rector, or the Bishop, but it seems most often done for Triduim. I thought? But I suppose it just depends.

Not ever around here. When I was a child, yes. Always.I don’t mind either way, has little bearing on my disposition during the Triduum, It’s really the most beautiful time of the church year.
All of salvation history comes to a head.

I see that all the statues at our church are now covered as of this morning, and I thought of this thread.
