Hi
I am posting in this section because nothing else matched what I wanted to ask. My question is- how many people do you know that have given up everything to help build up the poor neighborhoods?
I ask because there is this place called north end Winnipeg in Canada. It is perhaps the most decayed place in the country and has earned Winnipeg the murder capital title.
But I’ve always felt bad for the people there. Half are native and half are white but most are poor. There are active gangs there but I think it’s perhaps out of necessity.
Suppose in an optimistic future where I become filthy rich, will I be able to help them AND evangelize them? I mean live like one of them and act like I have barely enough money to eat while helping them start a business. This is something I’ve wanted to do ever since I got to know about the north end and I think I’ll be good at it. After all, Jesus lived with the poor

To be a Mother Teresa to the poor of Winnipeg is indeed an admirable vocation. I wish you every blessing in your possible future endeavour. I learnt a long time ago not to have much faith in changing people, but I do believe in the power of Christ, so I believe such a hope is possible, but extremely hard.

Why wait for a windfall? Prayer costs nothing. Pray for them…I will now that I know about them.

You have a very noble aIM. I would suggest that you read about thenlife of st.damien of molokai and mother teresa of calcutta.👍

Why wait? I imagine that there are already organizations who are working in that area. You can help them and volunteer your time and perhaps encourage new programs as needed. I recommend starting with an organization because there are often laws regarding how one can go about helping the poor and you don’t want to get in trouble from not going by the book.

PS- The first thing such organizations will probably teach you is that you get further with others if you don’t identify them as “criminals”.

You also must know the spiritual condition you are facing in dealing with people who are trapped in a moral dilemma. Satan is real you must not doubt this Jesus must lead you by His Spirit. You can do many charitable works but works in themselves will not improve the spiritual condition that is spiritual. You must use the principles of evangelization. Feed their bodies, but most of all feed their souls with the Good News, Jesus Christ. No doubt you will encounter a spiritual fight but you can expect this. It will take a strong faith in Christ in spite of all obstacles , much prayer, the use of graces especially the Eucharist, You will be assuming a life like that of St.Paul, and so many other saints.
