Is it permissible to go to confession and confess all sins from ones earliest recollection in cronological order? Some sins may or may not have already been confessed in earlies confessions.

It is unnecessary to confess sins that have already been confessed. Still, some priests are willing to hear it. It is best to make an appointment. This is called a general confession.

Yes, you can do that. It’s called a general confession.

Does the General Confession have to be face to face or can it be done in the Confessional behind the screen?

You always have the option of private confession, but if you’ve made an appointment for confession, I’m not sure if this would be necessary?

But the choice is yours

The name is life confession. In the good old times everyone was advised to do so before turning points of the life, such going to university, wedding, retiring etc.

Since it takes longer time, it is practical to ask for special appointment.

The theological background is that sins can be confessed repeatedly, and the repeated true confession brings grace from the Holy Spirit.
