Hi all. I have a lovely Mary statue. I went out to a craft store and purchased a package of golden metal filligree beads and some wire, and made a crown for Her (actually, it’s more of a garland or diadem) - see the pic.

Are there any special prayers typically said with such a crowning - to sort of make it a ceremony for my wife and I to perform?

THANKS! 👍

I’m sorry I can’t help you with that. Uhm. Pray the Rosary in front of the statue?

Note: Mary looks rather bored. hahaha The expressions of some statues are really funny. At Wal-Mart they have a statue of St. Francis…It looks more like St. Thomas (Aquinas). I got a kick out of that.

Meep.

There’s another thread where this is addressed. It had prayers especially for May crownings.

If its a May crowning then prayers can be found for that purpose. If it is outside May then any hymn or prayer will work well. This is after all a devotion and not liturgical.

We also crowned our statue of Our Lady of Lourdes with a garland of gold and crystal beads. We added gold roses on her feet (the statue had pink ones, which are the wrong color for OLOL. I whited out the pink ones), and we put a pearl and gold rosary in her hands because the one on the statue was not prominent enough. We also adorned our other statues with garlands where we thought appropriate. For example, we put a garland of white flower beads and green crystals on our statue of St. Therese because she was crowned with such a garland of real white flowers and green leaves when she entered Carmel and when she was laid in her coffin–both garlands were signs of the consecration of her virginity to Christ. I wondered if we were the only ones to do such things to our statues–I’m glad to hear we aren’t.
