I should just add that I’ll probably not talk about the medical aspects of crucifixion in detail here (unless it’s really necessary), partly because people like Dr. Pierre Barbet and Dr. Frederick Zugibe had already done the topic to death, and partly because I could no longer bear myself to write about that kind of stuff anymore. It just seems that when people talk about crucifixion they almost always focus on the physical elements of it, which is all fine IMHO, but is not everything there is. (This is one reason why I now kind of think Mel’s The Passion of the Christ, while still a good film, is still somewhat lacking: it seems to focus a tad too much on the bodily torments and not so much on the emotional and mental sufferings of Jesus.)
