CS Lewis, Where to start?

Seem that many discussions here refer to CS Lewis. So I figured it would be helpful if I knew of more of his works beyond the one about the kids that had the adventure with the world through the closet portal. It might bring a better understanding to me when I read the post of others. I was going to start with an Amazon audio book (audible.com ) but wasn’t sure where to start.

Suggestions?

I think “The Abolition of Man” is a good place to start.
 
Read Out of the Silent Planet and the Narnia books, and then get an audio book from audible.com called Mysticism in CS Lewis- fantasic reading!
 
Mere Christianity is probably his most famous book besides his Narnia series and covers a wide variety of subjects. It’s also one of his earlier works, being based on a series of radio broadcasts he gave during WWII. It seems to me like a logical place to start.
 
I suggest “The Great Divorce” as a place to start. Man it’s a good book.

Read Genesis 2-3.
Then
Out of the Silent Planet (because it relates to the next 2 below)
Perelandra (special significance to Genesis 3)
That Hideous Strength (special significance to our present times)

The Great Divorce & Screwtape Letters are also very good.
 
Thanks to all that have replied thus far.

It still left me with a lot of options, but I made a decision that was restricted to the titles suggested thus far with the intent of working my way through all of them.

Also thanks to any one that adds additional suggestions in the future!
 
Why not get to know him first, before getting to know his works? I’d suggest reading "Surprised by Joy,’ his spiritual autobiography. It’s a fantastic read.
 
My vote would be for Surprised by Joy. It’s an autobiography of his early life and his move towards Christianity.
 
I borrowed a book from a friend that had many, many essays from Lewis, as well as some other stuff from him that I thought was helpful. From what I understand, most of the ideas he develops more fully in books are covered enough in some of his essays to get a general idea where he is coming from.

I second this.

I’m going to say that personally I think that C.S. Lewis’s arguments for the existence of God and Natural Law are terrible. Theologically, however, I think he’s brilliant.

“The Great Divorce” is more than just a great Christian book. It’s a great book PERIOD. And let’s not forget “The Screwtape Letters”. Wickedly funny.

I’ve made a purchase, but it’s not too late. I plan to make more. And what I purchased isn’t one of those, which is good. It means I can take advantage of that deal without making a redundant purchase.

Found it! Will check it out too. Make take a few days to get through what I have purchased.
 
I can’t find the website, but I read “The Great Divorce” and “The Screwtape Letters” entirely online, as well as a couple of really brilliant essays.
