Curfew for Adults

I think adults should manage their time like adults. 🤷

If they’re going out on a work night, then they should be able to function at their jobs the following day. If they’re going out on a weekend night then weekend obligations should be taken care of… including going to Mass, of course! - whether that be the Saturday Vigil, or anytime Sunday.

What is a good curfew for adults who are dating?
I’m not sure I understand the question.
Who is setting the curfew, and why is it necessary?

If you are talking about 2 adults who are living independently of parents, then those 2 people should be able to decide when to end the date themselves.

If you are talking about adult children (e.g. 18, 19 years old) still living with parents, then the 2 who are dating are obliged to respect the house rules of their parents. If this is indeed the situation, I would say it would not be unreasonable to set a time that is least disruptive of the family. You have to factor in the time that everyone has to get up in morning, how deeply do you sleep (will you hear him or her coming in at night?), etc.
Off-hand, though, I would say midnight would not be unreasonable.

I’m referring to when I’m in college; how late I should stay out on a Friday night. It would be way too easy for me to stay out until 2 a.m., so what time IS appropriate?

Im a college student… on my second year, and I’m twenty. Since college is close by, I’m living at home while attending in order to save money.

I don’t have a “cerfew” but I do give myself time limits. I work during the day, and go to night classes. Sometimes I’ll meet my man after class, but usually its only for an hour or so because I need to be up by 5:30am to get ready for work. During the week I try to be home by 9:30 or 10. Fridays I’m usually out until 12 or 1… it all really depends on what is going on the next day.

The important thing is to be considerate of your family! i am the oldest of five, so i have a large sleeping family when i get home most friday nights. i take them into consideration and try to be very quiet when i get home, or if they have something going on saturday, i wont be home too late.

If you will be living away from your parents, then you need to decide what time will allow you to get a decent amount of sleep while still being able to get up and do whatever needs to be done. Figuring out how to balance fun and responsibilities is part of learning how to be an adult. If staying out to 2:00 AM on occasion does not interfere with getting your school work done and meeting any employment obligations, then by all means, stay out and have fun. There were a few times (admittedly, not many) when I was in college when I stayed out quite late (or quite early, if you will). I never drank, did drugs, or the party scene, but my friends and I had a good time none the less. I learned very quickly that I could not keep that up and still meet my work and study responsibilities, so I did not do it often.
The bottom line is, if you know that you will not be able to meet your obligations, or that you will likely succomb to temptations that you should not, set a curfew for yourself. People who don’t know you cannot tell you what would be best for you.
