I have asked my girl friend, who is non denominational, to attend the Good Friday serivce with me. She has hardly been to a Mass let alone a Good Friday service. I offered her the invite when we were having a discussion on religion when she addmitted to me that she was lost and did not know what to do. I suggested she could start with prayer and reflection on the Passion at the service. I was glad to hear her say that she would come with as she has turned down invites to sunday Mass before. I am curious to how she will react with the somber setting, as her non denominational side usually focuses on the rising and all the “good” things. Oh and by did I mention it is very anti catholic non denominational church! Although she does not practice it anymore, it does still linger in her beliefs.

She might like the more somber than joyful setting better than the more joyful setting. It’s nice that she’s accepting the offer and that she’s giving the Catholic Church a chance. If she likes it, maybe ask her if she wants to go again some other time?

Also, if some things look like she might not understand them fully, try explaining them to her.

If she is looking for the good, she’ll see the good. If she is coming with a hostile mindset, she’ll find everything wrong with the service. I hope that the former is correct!

Perhaps you can explain to her ahead of time–on the way or as you are entering the church–that Good Friday is very empty and solemn and explain why.

I have explained to her so I hope it helps her. Also praying that the Holy Spirit guides her each and everyday.
