The doctrine essentially says that the Blessed Virgin Mary was required for the Incarnation, and thus is a component of God’s plan for salvation; “co-redemptrix.”
John the Baptist was necessary to fulfill prophecies of the Messiah in the book of Isaiah. Wouldn’t he too then be a co-redemptrix, as he cooperated in the plan of salvation?
