This and your other reply here are the two posts that truly address the heart of the issue here and expose the fallacy of the “point” that the OP is trying to make. And so of course they’re just about the only two posts in this thread that have been completely ignored up until now. 😉 It’s funny how sometimes people like to argue just for the sake of arguing…

Your thinking that no one challenged a violation of morality is some kind of victory, could be why no one is commenting on that, as they are left speechless by it I hope.

I’ve seen your posts decry Islam for less.

Suppose the Church proclaimed that owning a slave was a grave sin. I hope you can imagine the harm that would cause . At least untill economies developed the ability to functionally replace slavery.

My first post offers a fairly encompassing explanation the morality and culpability of the Judeo-christian tradition.

What it actually offers is objective evidence of christian morality evolving. Let’s move to apologetics, where we can actually debate this in a formal way.

The value of the human person has always been one of equality since the beginning. Themoral teaching has always been concerned with preserving the dignity of the human person. I know of no example contrary in the Judeo-Christian moral teaching

How long did this failure last? Interseting how you remove yourself from this by saying “his God” Is not his God, your God also? Are you saying his God is not yours also?

I was stressing the point that the moral authority for the Hebrew’s opposed slavery.
Yes, the God of Abraham is my God too.

The war time disobedience set up conditions that made slavery unavoidable .

Why would they be ignored? They set up a moral code to protect the slaves from abuse. Remember, the same moral authority set up a code of conduct specifically to prevent slavery from happening.

Um, I need to go to bed now, it’s past my bedtime. If for some reason between my sleep and my coming back on I can connect the dots you are asking me to connect, I will feel like I actually could sell this line to another person and still have my integrity intact.

But, for now- I just can’t do that. I don’t roll that way.

How hypocritical would it be to free one nation from slavery and turn around 40 years later and enslave another? The ban was meant to avoid this hypocrisy.
