Does anybody go to Curves to get in shape? How long have you belonged. Has it helped, how does it stack up against other fitness plans.

I don’t go - my “health club” is the public park. But I did read awhile ago on Foxnews that some “feminist” groups were raising a stink about Curves because the gentleman who founded it is a conservative Christian and donates money to pro-life groups.

I joined Curves at the end of March. I like it a lot. I am struggling to lose weight but it is my fault, not Curves. I know someone who lost a lot of weight going there.

I like it because you are in and out very quickly. The exercises are not that difficult but you are still getting a good workout. Also, it is not terribly expensive and they often have specials. I feel a lot better physically also since I have joined.

I want to join w/ my teen daughter when I have the money. I’m trying to walk 20 -30 minutes/ day to prove to myself that I really will exercise when I can afford to join!

I am going to join next week… Funny to come across this thread about it… I like the fact that it isn’t a “meat” market…(As I feel about larger health clubs…)… I am anxious to start, and heard nothing but good things about it…

Basically, any exercise you will stick to is a good thing. From what I have read, Curves is popular because it is structured and organized and lasts only 30 minutes. If you live an inactive lifestyle (you don’t exercise) and you suddenly add 30 minutes of moderate exercise to your day you will see pretty quick results.

You also will need to watch your diet by eating healthy foods.

Eventually though you will most likely plateau. You will need to add something else to your routine at that point in addition to Curves. It all depends on how fit you want to be.

I run about 15 miles a week and lift weights three days a week for about an hour. I still have a long way to go to get anywhere near where I would like to be. It depends on how high you set your goals.

Good luck! Stick to it. Remember bodies in motion tend to stay in motion and inactive bodies tend to stay inactive
