Cut off by priest mid-confession?

Has this ever happened to anyone and are we still absolved of the sins we didn’t get to confess? The priest absolved me before I could finish! I mentioned the rest of my sins to him after the absolution, so are they still forgiven?

Once, I had to interrupt the priest telling him I hadn’t finished. He stopped, I continued to my conclusion and he restarted the absolution. I would assume you have received absolution as it was in your heart and mind to finish before he finished. God understands but include same in next confession.

If you told all the serious sins during the confession, and had contrition, then the absolution is for them all.

You went in meaning to confess all the sins.

The absolution is for ALL your sins - unless of course you had the intention of mentally reserving some, in which case it wouldn’t have been valid in the first place.

Despite the fact that you weren’t able to complete the list, you are absolved. Don’t worry about it. You are in a state of grace.

If you want, you can finish the list off at your next Confession, but you don’t need to miss out on Communion unless or until you commit a new mortal sin.

Thanks everybody! It’s kind of funny, actually. You go in all embarrassed and thinking you’re going to shock the collar off your confessor and he’s like, “Yeah that’s enough, I think we’re done here.” It just goes to show you, they’ve heard it all

LOL! This happened to me a couple weeks ago. I had a list and everything…going right down it. I had like 2 more sins left and he interrupted me by saying “didn’t you already confess these sins??” Ummm, I don’t think so?

At any rate, since I had every intention of confessing those last two, I assumed they were forgiven.
