Daily Mass vs. Daily Adoration

I’m a college student who will be interning in a city this summer.

At college, I am in the habit of going to daily Mass. I have been looking at daily Mass times/locations in this city I am going to in the summer to try to spiritually hit the ground running as soon as I arrive in this city. Public transit is currently mysterious to me, and I don’t know what time I will have to report into work yet either, so I’m having trouble making plans for going to daily Mass. I did, however, find a church with perpetual Eucharistic Adoration, which is very appealing to me because a) I love Adoration, and b) the perpetual nature of it is very flexible as I acclimate to living in and navigating the city.

So, my question is this: do you think that I would find daily Eucharistic Adoration as fulfilling as daily Mass?
 
You’re very blessed to have found an Adoration chapel in your area. Whether it’s Mass or Adoration, I think both are beneficial, and you wouldn’t regret going as often as you can.

I’ve been going to daily Mass for a decade or I guess eleven years now. There are days that I don’t get to go, like if there’s a meeting at work around that time, if I’m sick, or away on vacation. I didn’t get to go to Adoration that often because the chapel I go to doesn’t have the Blessed Sacrament reposed there. However, when I started my new job this May, the chapel nearest me has daily Mass and the Blessed Sacrament is always there in the tabernacle. Before going to work, I drop by the chapel and spend some time in Adoration, praying the rosary. I attend the Mass at lunchtime. God is good.
 
It’s indeed fulfilling to be in quiet adoration. Do that while you get settled and look at other spiritual options. But you can’t go wrong being with the Lord!

I have been going to daily Mass for over 40 years. A friend and neighbor invited me to go with her during Lent and I didn’t want to stop after Easter. I usually go early and stay after long enough to pray the Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet and my personal prayers so that is at least an hour. You can combine Mass and Adoration together. 27 years ago my Parish started Perpetual Adoration and I have several Holy Hours a week also. I pray especially for my family and country. I have taken kids and grandkids with me many, many times. So much to pray for and the time goes by sooo fast. My family is raised and I have much more time now to visit Our Lord. I find peace while there. I thank my dear friend, now in Heaven, every day for introducing me to Daily Mass. God Bless, Memaw

In my opinion, settle with what you have. If it deems impossible or troubling due to work/school concerns that prevents you from attending daily Mass,just settle with Adoration. After all, you still worship his Real Presence anyway in the Mass or Adoration. (though you must at least make it a point to attend Mass on days of obligation)

I am an incoming college freshman. Since I am enrolled in a Catholic University, there is a parish church within the school compound. I always attend daily Masses since Grade 5 in my school chapel and will continue attending daily Masses once classes start in August.

How wonderful how the Lord uses us and others to bring one another closer to Christ. It is great that your parish has Perpetual Adoration! There is a parish, a bit out of the way, that has the same. I can go when a dear friend picks me up for the Five First Saturday devotions. Either before or after Mass we stop in at the adoration chapel.

My family is raised as well, and I am blessed that my youngest child (married, with two teen-age boys) lives in the same area as I do,

There is so much to be received from the Lord from our participation in Mass, and Adoration. Our parish has adoration once a month, starting after First Friday Mass.

Eucharistic Adoration is a more individual form of prayer. The Mass is the communal worship of the Universal Church.
 
As neither daily Mass nor adoration are required, perhaps there is anotyher way to look at the matter.

first you need to get to wherever you are going to be staying (unless you are traveling each day to a different city for your internship). If you are staing in the city, then your home site will partly dictate where you might be able to go, for Mass or adoration, due to travel restraints.

If you travel each day to the city to work, then you will have two different areas in which to look for either a Mass or for adoration, or for both.

Once home/work site are established, then you can effectively research which alternative is easiest to accomplish, or if both are. Or, for that matter, if neither are, due to time/travel requirements.

don’t get the cart in front of the horse. The first responsibility is to the internship; the rest of it will sort itself out. You may find there is neither Mass nor adoration is available due to time/travel/location. Or you may find one, or both.

As to which to choose if you can only do one, but both are available, going to Mass and Communion allows you effectively to do both.
 
Adoration will be every bit as fulfilling as it needs to be. I go to daily Mass and daily Adoration – they’re two different things, but I find them both valuable. Husband’s currently out of the country on an extended trip, so I got to spend three hours with Jesus in Adoration today, and I honestly couldn’t tell you where the time went. It’s not the same as Mass, but you won’t regret it.

By the way, thank you for your question. I got curious and learned there is a Perpetual Adoration chapel just 20 minutes from my house. I’ll make a phone call on Monday to confirm, and then Yay for those mornings when I find myself awake at 3am! 😃

“Being REQUIRED” is not the point. It’s a matter of “CHOICE” I don’t understand why we seem to think it must be required before we do it. God gave us a free will, we need to learn the right way to use it. God Bless, Memaw
