Hello -

Can anyone recommend a Catholic Daily Meditations book for a reading every day of the year? Looking for something perhaps more practical than anything else, but I’m of course open to suggestions. Thanks!

My two favorites other than praying the Liturgy of the Hours;

The Imitation of Christ, by Thomas Kempis

Thoughts in Solitude, by Thomas Merton

Jim

OK, it’s expensive, but well worth the price.

In Conversation with God Fernandez, Francis. Scepter Press.

It follows the liturgical year and the meditations are truly amazing.

I’ve heard of these! It’s a volume set, right? Well worth it though, huh? Can you purchase one volume at a time?

I bought the whole set at once, but some places might have them individually. They are so good, so insightful, completely orthodox with lots of quotes from saints and church documents.

Excellent! I will look into them. Thank you!

I have not used them lately but they are very very good. One can start with vol 3 right now or wait til Lent for vol 2

Also there on Prayer is Fr. Jacques Philippe (books not daily meditations though).

Sacred Scripture is of course central.

And there is the Magnificat that has both the daily Sacred Scripture and meditations.

Two by the same author. His name was Joseph m. Champlin. He was a catholic priest and was much admired and loved by many(my opinion). One is titled “take five-one hundred meditations to de-stress your days”. The other is titled “slow down” I don’t recall how many meditations this one has as it is out on loan at the moment. I believe it has about 75 daily meditations. I enjoy them both as well as share them with others. Blessings.

In Conversation with God is amazing. Highly recommended.

You could also try Benedictus: Day by Day with Pope Benedict XVI (Magnificat/Ignatius Press).
