This just seems odd and I am uncertain what to think about it. 12 year old Dakota Fannings will be the new representative for the WOMEN’S spring lineup.

According to the article the photos of Dakota wearing the outfits are not sexual but as a woman of forty, I find it difficult to imagine that I would want to wear clothing that would look good on a 12 year old.

**Dakota Fanning is hardly on the rise — the actress has the career trajectory of a rocket. But if the reasoning is that the model and clothes should mesh, it’s not surprising that some people are perplexed to see a 12-year-old in an ad campaign aimed at grown women, despite the many people who have noted that Fanning looked “cute” in the outfits. **

Since Fanning was five years old, her agent has been Cindy Osbrink, who described the two-day Jacobs shoot as “fun — just a fun thing for [Fanning] to do” and likened it to Halloween

I agree with you, it’s definitely a little odd.

I wonder what’s going on with Dakota Fanning, first that movie with the rape scene and now this.

I wonder what’s going on with Dakota Fanning,
I wonder what’s going on with her parents. Seems that some people advising Dakota are a bit needy for Hollywood “credibility”, hence her “edgy” and “artistic” choices as of late. 😦
Poor girl. Waaay too young to be immersed in this lifestyle.

I can’t find any pictures of Dakota Fannings in this lineup. I suppose that they haven’t released them yet.

Even if they are very tasteful though, I wonder why she isn’t modeling a line of clothing for preteens? Afterall, she is only 12 years old. I could understand that, but to have the new women’s clothing line be modeled by a preadolescent is hard to fanthom.

Seems reasonable. But given the state of society there may be lots of 40-somethiings who want the Dakota Fanning look.

Marc Jacobs is a very “high fashion” type designer, and as in the fashion world, very eccentric and the world he inhabits is not at all “wholesome”.
I just think in some “art” way it is “interesting” to take a little girl who is known for her sense of innocence and try to turn that idea on its head somehow. I don’t necessarily think it will be graphically sexualized, at least I hope not, but I think in some way it is an attempt at perversion of more “traditional” values. Just my opinion, my hunch. 😦

Why is this society so fired up to make children grow up too quickly? Innocence seems to be something of the long past. So sad to see that her parents are supporting this!

I saw a quick interview of her…and little Dakota seems to talk beyond her years…saying when I read the script for this movie, I just could not pass this opportunity up.

I just hope that like so many child stars who struggled with addictions etc…that she is not falling victim to the meteoric fame she is now getting.

I have to confess–I really don’t even know what the Dakota Fanning look is!
Or who Marc Jacobs is!
I don’t think that Fanning has a ‘look’. She appears to look like any normal 12 year old. I think that the poster was being a bit tongue in cheek. Fanning is going to model clothing for adult women, so perhaps it will become stylish for adult women to look like prepubescent children. Hopefully not.
