*"**Waging war for the cause of freedom can be justified **but not in the case of Tibet’s dream of autonomy from China, the Dalai Lama told an audience at Stanford University. *

The allied victory in World War II “saved Western civilization,” and conflicts fought in Korea and Vietnam were honorable from a moral standpoint, the 14th Dalai Lama said in answer to questions."

*“Asked about the US-led invasion of Iraq, he said it would take a few years before it becomes clear whether the US military action was the right course of action.” *

I always wondered why obsolete Korean War-vintage Air Force piston-engine propeller-driven cargo planes had been retrofitted with one or two jet engines mounted on top of the fuselage. These were old “flying boxcar” C-119’s and C-82’s. The answer was that the Indian Air Force was using them to make air drops into Tibet to combat the Chinese invasion of Tibet. The extra engines were needed to overcome the thin air of flying into the Himalaya Mountains.

One night while passing through New Delhi’s Palam airport, some years ago, I glanced out the window and saw a very high performance single airplane THAT HAD BEEN EQUIPPED WITH TWO ENGINES. The plane had NO MARKINGS.

So, I got the feeling that, in fact, there was quite a bit of “action” in Tibet to slow down or stop the Chinese. We may never know or find out how successful any of these actions were.

But we do know the Chinese killed a lot of Tibetans.

Sometimes there is more to things than meets the eye. Or are acknowledged in the popular media.

Might be useful for folks to look up the Tibetan conflict.
