I left the Church for 2 years when I became a nondenominational evangelical Christian extremely involved with religion. I was genuinely confused and thought Catholicism was superstition so this was not a mortal sin. What damage happened to me or Jesus or the world by me leaving the faith? I know that Christ was rejected, albeit accidentally, but in what other ways did this decision have hurtful consequences?

If it was a Christian church, then Christ wasn’t rejected (our separated brethren are misguided, but God still loves them). Welcome back! Your experience might make you a good evangelist.

I feel really sad when someone leaves the Church, and I know I’m not the only one. Does our sadness count? 😦 By the same token, I’m really glad you came back! :extrahappy:

I suppose you would be the best person to answer that, based upon who you think may have been hurt by your decision. I don’t think anyone else, who had nothing to do with the decision, could judge how it affected others.

It may have been the best thing for you to do at the time.

I’ve found that by looking backwards I can see God’s action in my life through all the twists and turns. It seems from your post that you kept open to the call of the Holy Spirit, and it looks like you are on your way home.

So, welcome back:thumbsup:

Welcome back! 🙂

Pray that anyone who may have been harmed will now be blessed by your considered return. It is witness of humility and courage that you admit you were mistaken by the fact of your return.

What I would miss most if I left the Church is the Eucharist – I try to go to Mass every day to receive the Eucharist because having Jesus with me for my entire day is the only thing that keeps me going. Several years ago after my husband passed away I attended a one-day retreat regarding the Eucharist at Vallombrosa given by Fr. Ron Rolheiser – he was so profound and inspiring that I made up my mind that I would go to Mass each and every day – I wish all of you a very Happy Easter!!!

I figured id share this story my grandma always tells me espcsially to this day. When she married my grandpa a great man whom died theyear i was born god rest his soul he was a luthern and my grandma was a italian roman catholic. They decided to get married luthern and they baptised my uncle luthern.then my grandma said to him one day “bob this isn’t me and i’m not a luthern i’m a catholic i’ gonna go back to the church and raise our son catholic”. My grandfather wasn’t a catholic man and didnt really like the faith and he said fine reluctantly. and so she did then they got remarried catholic. But then he started coming to the catholic church on sundays. And he loved it so he wound up converting from a german luthern to a german roman catholic. He would alwys tell the priest jkingly he would go " ooh father they’d oughta make me a saint i went from a non catholic luthern to religous roman catholic." my grandma and my grandpa and the priest would always laugh. he was very devoted and he even was so devoted he went with my grandma to hang out with the nuns. I love to see people come back to the church and i love to tell stories escpecially about people coming home to the mother church. I know that te catholic church is the true church my grandma told me tonite some evangelical jewish man was on ewtn and told his story that he believed the roman catholic church is the true church and he told his convert story. I wish people would come back more its always nice to see it and it brings joy to me and i’m just a kid making cofirmation this friday so you can se how the lord has made me and brought me up.

My brother, whom I love, became a Lutheran when he married. I’m not the type of person to actually question people, but if I was, I would ask “how could you do without the Eucharist?!?”.

:clapping:

Jesus was not damaged by you leaving the Catholic Church; but, Satan is damaged by you not leaving Jesus.
