Damned Dreams?

Has anyone else had dreams that they were damned? It’s quite perplexing to say the least. Just last night I had a dream I was in a dark place crying out to Christ for mercy! I’m not sure if I was in purgatory or hell. This has happened before. I’m not sure what to make of it.

I used to have dreams of an evil presence being in the room. That has stopped since I stopped reading material on true crime.

Just once I wish I would have a dream of joy and the presence of God.

Interesting that I should come here and see your post after awakening this morning from a bad dream. I don’t have dreams that I’m damned, but I have dreams about going to a Mass or Catholic event and it’s all weird and wrong, the heretical inmates are running the asylum as it were, and it’s very distressing. I guess they happen when I read too much about those type of problems in the Church in certain places, just as you had bad dreams when reading true crime.

I would suggest the usual remedies - try to not fill your mind with disturbing thoughts, use sacramentals such as Holy Water, pray the Rosary and the St. Michael Prayer, etc.

One thing I do know - when I have one of those horrid dreams, it sure makes me grateful to wake and thank God it wasn’t real! :coolinoff:

I have had similar dreams, but I think they might be coming from my own stupid
brain.
