Daniel 9:24 - Lady of Fatima?!

(Dan 9:24) Seventy weeks are apportioned out upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to close the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make expiation for iniquity, and to bring in the righteousness of the ages, and to seal the vision and prophecies, and to anoint the holy of holies.

Or, if you would like another translation!

(Dan 9:24) Seventy weeks are decreed as to your people and as to your holy city, to finish the transgression and to make an end of sins, and to make atonement for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and** to seal up the vision and prophecy**, and to anoint the Most Holy.

Ok, now this does bring a few questions for me… Perhaps I am reading it wrong, or my interpretation is wrong.

Ok, now we know that many people have dreams and visions of Christ. And, we all know about Our Lady of Fatima and the 3 Prophecies the Blessed Mother gave!

----> Do these things contradict Daniel 9:24, or am I just reading it wrongly? I would like your interpretation on it please

Daniel 9:24 is generally understood to refer to the (first) coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

From Haydock’s 1859 Catholic Bible Commentary:Ver. 24. Seventy weeks (viz. of years, or seventy times seven, that is, 490 years) are shortened; that is, fixed and determined, so that the time shall be no longer. (Challoner) — This is not a conditional prophecy. Daniel was solicitous to know when the seventy years of Jeremias would terminate. But something of far greater consequence is revealed to him, (Worthington) even the coming and death of the Messias, four hundred and ninety years after the order for rebuilding the walls should be given, (Calmet) at which period Christ would redeem the world, (Worthington) and abolish the sacrifices of the law. (Calmet) — Finished, or arrive at its height by the crucifixion of the Son of God; (Theodoret) or rather sin shall be forgiven. Hebrew: “to finish crimes to seal (cover or remit) sins, and to expiate iniquity.” — Anointed. Christ is the great anointed of God, the source of justice, and the end of the law and of the prophets, (Acts x. 38. and 1 Corinthians i. 30; Romans x. 4.) (Calmet) as well as the pardoner of crimes. Sealing a document, in ancient times, could mean closing it up. But it could also mean signing it, by stamping it with one’s seal.

So it’s possible that this means, “And when the Messiah comes, you’ll find out exactly what all this prophecy was all about. Me! Signed, sealed, and delivered to Earth to get y’all ready.”

Since we believe that the Messiah is coming again, clearly this also applies to us.

Also, don’t forget that “seven times seventy” tends to mean “a whole lot”, not just “490”.
