St. Jerome- “He clearly refers to Alexander the Great, king of the Macedonians, and son of Philip.”

Ishodad of Merv- “Alexander the Great shall rise and kill Darius.”

Haydock- Alexander

2. The stronger prince in verse 5 ?

Theodoret of Cyrus- “He is referring to Ptolemy Philopater.”

St. Jerome- "Ptolemy Philadelphus, the second king of Egypt

Haydock- Seleucus Nicator, king of Asia and Syria

3. The commander in verse 18 ?

Theodoret of Cyrus- Antiochus

St. Jerome- Antiochus

Haydock- Antiochus

Isn’t Verse 13 … describing Alex the Great [as the King of North] … so later in verse 18, his Commander would be Coenus [his General in India who convinces him to turn back to his Own Lands [ described in verse 19] ?
