I highly recommend the documentary film “God Grew Tired of Us”. It is about the “Lost Boys” of Sudan. The film website has a trailer, information about the Lost Boys and ways to take action.

Rebecca, thanks so much for the link, I saw the trailer briefly and hope to see the complete movie. just one question, you know these men are from south Sudan a predominately Coptic christians and not from Darfur where about 95% or more are Muslims, moreover, you are aware that the war in the south ended few years back and SLA and SLP are both in the current government in Khartoum.
Just thought to share these two points with you.

I did not know they were Christian until I saw the film. That is one of the very poignant parts of the film. Where one of the young men expresses his struggling to understand suffering and what God wants him to learn from it. It is from this particular conversation that the title is taken from. It was his thought, as a13 year old boy, walking hundreds of miles in the desert with no food and no parents to care for him.

You’ll have to take that up with my daughter. I assume she was referring to the delay of action in WWII. I know my daughter would not intentionally belittle the great things that many did for the Jews and others at that time.

**Please, without doubting your sincerity, I would strongly suggest that you read more and from different sources, what is happening in darfur is bad enough and without making any light of it, it’s more of land disbutes over generations, corrupt and shameless government in Khartoum,a brother against brother and nomads against farmers and apparently no one east or in the west is doing much about it accept few poorly equipped OAU soldiers who can even defend themselves. **

Just a clarification, 99% of folks from that part of Sudan are Muslims and 99% Sudanese are Black Africans including those who are in power, sure one of many languages spoken in The Sudan is arabic and so some claim to be of arab decents, while the south of sudan is predominantly Qutbik “Coptic” Christians and also there large numbers of people who are Animists (Those who have indigenous african traditional beliefs).

but the idea of arabs killing black africans is unfounded since they all blacks and muslims.

You will note Arabic is the official language. Why, I don’t know. Could it be because people of Arabic descent are in power?
