Hey all!

I promise this post will not be nearly as negative as my others lol.

Actually, I am going out for the first time with a really great guy tomorrow. We were both homeschooled and part of the same Catholic group, but neither of us ever interacted until we started chatting on fb yesterday.

His mother (after having gotten to know me) wrote to my mom and asked her if she could introduce her son to me. So he asked me out, and tomorrow, he is picking me up for a first date.

I am extremely nervous lol. I’ve been on dates before, but I always feel so awkward and shy. Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with this? Sometimes I think I put guys off because I get so quiet and lost for words due to my shyness. I’m also pretty inexperienced with dating, which doesn’t help. AND our moms are talking about it as well, which is truly sweet…but also kind of embarrassing :o

Any advice is very much appreciated. And prayers!

Thank you! God bless!

I hope it goes well.🙂

You could be courageous and be quite honest…tell him you feel shy and hope to overcome being so shy.
He might actually be thankful for your honesty, and if his mother had to initiate the date, it’s quite possible that your date is also shy, with similar nervousness. Mentioning it may enable him to some extent. Show a kind interest in him. A warm smile goes a long way!
If there are silences, they’re not a bad thing if you allow each other to be who you each are. Be yourself, and be patient with each other. Don’t give up too soon

Let’s see…do I have any advice on how to deal with dating nerves? Sorry, no! 😛

Sorry, I was not a good dater in that regard. I was always very nervous around attractive women and found it hard to talk to them. I don’t think anything but age and some experience really helped me, and the fact that my wife is naturally a more outgoing person.

But I wish you all the best. Just be yourself…it sounds trite, but who else can you be anyway?

Congrats! That’s great. It might be helpful to think of 3-4 conversation starters ahead of time. Maybe you could comment on something you noticed on his fb page, or maybe you could ask, “What do you think about …?” and describe something you heard or read about in the news.

The way to a man’s heart is to talk about himself. Sounds dreadful, but so true. It will also allow you to find common interests. No use talking about religion on a date. You both know you are Catholics. Talk about his work, hobbies and aspirations. Tell him about yours.
Remember Our Lady’s interest in the young married at the wedding feast. So bring her in on your side that things will go well if it is in both your interests. She is a woman and a prayer will not go astray. An old romantic also wishes you well.

Why don’t you just let the mums talk it over instead? 😛

I was always liked less by a girl than by her mother. Always. Well, wait. Almost always.
