I know that your original post was about a year and a half ago, but I just inadvertently landed on Stewart’s “hate site” today. WOW! This guy is totally, terminally nuts, not to mention mean. I love all his “graven image” stuff. Such vitriol! And he uses the “I don’t hate sinners, I hate the sin” argument to justify all his vicious attacks on us. He says that he really, truly loves everyone but he must tell the truth when he sees us Catholic evildoers and “idolaters”. There is some really paranoid propaganda on the site that is nothing but a HOOT! My favorite stories are that 9/11 was “an inside job”; the “war on drugs” was faked; we most certainly did not evolve from primates; television is “Satanic TV”; and psychiatric medications are evil. Of course, Stewart saves his best stuff to attack Catholicism: “Catholics are arrogant, sinfully proud, and Jesus said about them: “Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition”. (Mark 7:9) (1611 King James Bible) Our version bible: “And He said to them, 'How ingeniously you get round the commandment of God in order to preserve your own tradition!’” (Mark 7:9) (New Jerusalem Bible) I guess 2000 years ago there must have been some “Catholics” around for Jesus to be talking directly about us. The way Stewart speaks of Our Lady is an abomination. The way he speaks of the Divine Mercy and of the Holy Eucharist is blasphemous. I guess we’ll have to say a rosary and a Chaplet for him. But, seriously, those new to the faith or those whose faith is not so firm, should definitely not visit this man’s website and read the lies being proffered there. Ain’t the First Amendment grand?
I looked on that website too. David J. Stewart says women wearing pants is a sin and so are mini-skirts. David J. Stewart said if he was king and had his own way, he would have every women that exposed their legs and wearing pants or mini skirts arrested. Iran has a similar law. In fact, David says that even though radical, extremist muslims and radical Islamic nations are unsaved, according to David’s words, he says they have more morality than us. This is very ubsurd
. He also said that women are to be inferior to men and that women cannot have independent lives, personalities, jobs or careers outside the home and he says to women who do so are an abomination to God. In the real bible, there were actually women who had careers outside the home that were actually God-honoring like Lydia in Acts 26. Pope John Paul II, whom David says that pope is burning in bell, actually praised women for working and having careers and contributing to our society. The pope said there should be more opportunities for women to work and have careers so that they can contribute to our society.
David says that seperation of church and state is “of the devil.” Though David J. Stewart believes in the Constitution and supports Ron Paul, he says that God commands us to be intolerant to people of other religions and bash at them. Furthermore, David says that freedom of religion is not a biblical right when in reality Christianity does support the right of religious tolerance, which makes true Christianity unique to other religions (while Christian nations support right to freedom of religion, Islamic nations and even atheist nations, like communist China do not allow the right to freedom of religion). Jesus was actually a religiously tolerant person and treated Samaritans and Jews with respect. He also said that America must be taken down and that many of the symbols of America like the flag and the Washington monument are occultic and satanic. To me, that is throwing the baby with the bathwater. America is a Christian nation (one nation under god).But then David J. Stewart and some other radical Christians would claim that the type of Christianity America was founded upon was a “false” type of Christianity “watered down and corrupted by humanism”, which in reality is like saying 1+1=5. David also says that radical Christianity is true biblical Christianity. In reality, radical Christianity is a false type of Christianity and is just as bad and intolerant as radical Islam and radical atheism (Communism and facism). He occasionally says, " If I am king and had my way" he said he would take down all of the internet just because of pornography(again, throwing the baby with the bathwater) and that punishment for breaking that rule is death penalty. With all that being said, David J. Stewart’s theocracy would not be a pretty place especially for us Catholics.
