Dear Brothers and Sisters,
What a joy to draw closer to Jesus through Mary! As we behold our Mother we see how God has transformed a humble human person into the beautiful woman He promised in the beginning of His Revelation in Genesis 3:15. The evil one continues to hate Mary, not only as the one who continually said “Yes” to God on earth, but who continues to “mother” children who follow Jesus as she did.
In the Introduction to True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin St. Louis de Montfort wrote:
We cannot know her if we choose to be “of the world”. St. Louis makes that clear in helping us to rid ourselves of the spirit of the world. He reminds us of Jesus’ call to “Repent” urging us to seek true knowledge of ourselves. Our spiritual journey does not end after 33 days, for it is the work of a lifetime, but each time we find ourselves, hopefully, learning more by God’s Grace and our Mother’s “mothering” prayers.
By His Grace, may we gratefully and joyfully open our hearts more and more to the Holy Spirit who reveals to us the complete Truth of Jesus, which contains the understanding of Mary we need.

Only by the power of the Holy Spirit and through the intercession of Mary, can we come to understand her – each of us, in a unique way. Every child knows his human natural mother in a unique way, and the mother’s love for each child is likewise unique in God’s plan. So it is with our human, supernatural Mother in the order of grace. She has a unique and beautiful care for each of us which is given her by God.
- I declare with the saints: Mary is the earthly paradise of Jesus Christ the new Adam, where he became man by the power of the Holy Spirit, in order to accomplish in her wonders beyond our understanding. She is the vast and divine world of God where unutterable marvels and beauties are to be found. She is the magnificence of the Almighty where he hid his only Son, as in his own bosom, and with him everything that is most excellent and precious. What great and hidden things the all-powerful God has done for this wonderful creature, as she herself had to confess in spite of her great humility, “The Almighty has done great things for me.” The world does not know these things because it is incapable and unworthy of knowing them.
We cannot know her if we choose to be “of the world”. St. Louis makes that clear in helping us to rid ourselves of the spirit of the world.
