Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Yesterday’s Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe strengthend my conviction of our “need” for Mary as our Mother. Jesus’ words from the Cross:
When Mary heard Jesus say, to John: “Behold your Mother” she looked at John with that tenderness we saw and heard from her at Guadalupe. Mary saw a “Juanito”-- a little one – and with the beloved disciple John she received all the little ones who would follow Jesus. In our desire this week to “acquire an understanding of Mary”, it seems to me we need to see her above all as “Mother” and to see ourselves as willing as John to obey Jesus’ words and take her into our lives.
Let us continue to pray to the Holy Spirit for the graces we need to open our minds and hearts to make room for Jesus through Mary to live in us, and continue to pray for our Mother’s intercession. Come, Holy Spirit! Mother of Tenderness, pray for us.

Yesterday’s Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe strengthend my conviction of our “need” for Mary as our Mother. Jesus’ words from the Cross:
It is impossible for us to know exactly the depth and breath of Mary’s mind and heart on hearing the words of Jesus, but we know that she was so united with the Holy Spirit that she heard with the ears of her heart, God’s Truth. The word “Woman”, it seems to me would have recalled Genesis and God’s Word spoken in Eden:When Jesus saw His mother and the disciple there whom He loved, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son.”
Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. (Jn 19: 26-27)
Mary’s faithfulness to God’s Word was ever fruitful, and by His powerful Grace, she may have heard the Universal Motherhood to which Jesus called her. She may have realized in some way she was the new Eve; John and all those to be in Christ, were her offspring.I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
They will strike at your head,
while you strike at their heel. (Gen 3:15)
