Day 28 - seeking to understand Jesus better

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today we continue seeking to understand Jesus better on our journey. Yesterday these words in the Prayer of St. Augustine moved me:

…My loving Lord, Jesus Christ, why have I ever loved or desired anything else in my life but you, my God? Where was I when I was not in communion with you? From now on, I direct all my desires to be inspired by you and centred on you. I direct them to press forward for they have tarried long enough, to hasten towards their goal, to seek the one they yearn for.

Also this morning, reading these words of Pope Francis helped me ponder further:

When the Church looks for Jesus, she always knocks at his Mother’s door and asks: “Show us Jesus.” It is from Mary that the Church learns true discipleship. That is why the Church always goes out on mission in the footsteps of Mary……Dear friends, we have come to knock at the door of Mary’s house. She has opened it for us, she has let us in and she shows us her Son. Now she asks us to “do whatever he tells you” (Jn 2:5). Yes, dear Mother, we are committed to doing whatever Jesus tells us! And we will do it with hope, trusting in God’s surprises and full of joy.” ( homily, in Aparcida. 2013)

By God’s Grace let us continue to journey as the Magi did to find Christ, and like them may we find Him, with Mary His Mother.
