Dear Brothers and Sisters,
“From the fullness of the heart, the mouth speaks” (Mt. 12:34) Jesus used these words in speaking to the Pharisees for Jesus knew their hearts and recognized how they lied. Jesus is the Way to the Father, for He is the Son and One with the Father, Jesus is the Truth of God and the Life of God; yet the Pharisees lied to the crowd amazed by the miracle Jesus performed: casting out the devil so the demoniac man could be free to hear and see. When the Pharisees accused Jesus of casting out devils by beelzebub, Jesus said:
If we are to know Jesus, we need to come closer to His Heart, for out of Jesus’ Mouth comes only Truth. We need to pray to the Holy Spirit and to listen, pondering the words and actions of Jesus in Scripture even as Mary kept all these things in her heart. Jesus told His disciples: “Learn of Me, for I am Meek and Humble of Heart, and you will find rest.” We cannot learn to know Jesus more, if we do not pray and listen to Him. Today’s Gospel also warns us, not to be like the Pharisees, whom Jesus called “hypocrites”:
Come Holy Spirit, teach us the complete Truth of Jesus, moment by moment as we open ourselves to hear and see. Litany of the Holy Spirit HERE
Mary, our Mother, pray that we may be faithful to the Truth as you were on this earth; help us to be true disciples. Ave Maris Stella HERE
Jesus, we trust in You! Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus HERE

Those who speak evil belong to the father of lies, but the children of God learn to speak His Truth, lovingly, as Jesus and Mary and all the saints spoke.…You brood of vipers, how can you say good things when you are evil? For from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.

The Church exists to evangelize but each member of the Church needs ongoing conversion. Each needs daily to go before the Lord and ask for His healing of mind and heart to become truly His disciples, recognizing His Truth and removing any beams in our eyes by the power of His Holy Spirit, and then, seeing clearly, we may be able to help our brothers and sisters remove splinters from their eyes. We are all called to holiness: to union with God in the perfection of charity.Jesus told his disciples a parable : "Can a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit? No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every disciple will be like his teacher. Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,’ when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother’s eye. (Saint Luke 6:39-42)
