Deacons saying mass?

Also, I’m pretty sure that a Deacon cannot preside at at Missa Sicca, where only previously consecrated hosts are used. The only example of the Missa Sicca left in the modern liturgy (1962 & 1970 missals) is the Good Friday Service, which is rightly called a Mass, being a Missa Sicca or “dry Mass.”

That said, I’m nearly positive that a Deacon cannot preside over a Good Friday celebration.
When I read that, I wonder under what circumstances a deacon would be called to do that anyway. As I understand it, if the Mass of the Lord’s Supper is not celebrated (no priest, no MotLS) in the parish then the Passion of the Lord can’t be celebrated since you can’t celebrate just part of the Triduum.
