Dead in life. Sounds a bit dramatic, doesn’t it? But I feel that way.

I lack passion. I live in fear because of my past mistakes. I go to university,I eat, I walk, but I feel empty inside.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m depressed. But even before I have felt that way. What is wrong with me? Could anybody help? Please.

Is there any purpose in my life rather than showing what shouldn’t be done?

It sounds like depression; but only someone qualified can diagnose you.

Alter my mother died when I was young I felt like that for a few years.
I would think also that it might be depression, so maybe try to recognize at least something good each day and thank God for it. You have to take the first steps to make yourself see what is good until gradually you get around to feeling it. You have to keep trying, not give up because it doesn’t seem to be working.
That’s what I found, anyway.

I’ve been like this off and on for years…have you ever studied temperaments? It might be of interest to know what motivates you…

I agree with other poster…perhaps first step is to have a physical exam and determine if any causes there, perhaps depression, perhaps something else causing this.

and…maybe see a priest.
God Bless you

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of need.

Sorry to hear this Carlos. It does sound like depression to me. I highly recommend you see your doctor about this; even if it isn’t depression, you have to rule it out. Also, if you can, perhaps see a priest. He can help determine if the cause is spiritual, and either way, give you some spiritual guidance on dealing with this. Praying for you to Our Lady.

Thank you guys. It must be depression, I just hope everything is fine with me.

Don’t buy into a label just yet. First question is whether they are interfering with your “everyday life” because for one thing if you can manage your personal affairs reasonably well they can’t stick a diagnostic label with you.

A diagnostic label can be useful, but more likely devastating especially if wrongly applied because once there is a label it becomes a matter of being something you shouldn’t be and requiring transubstantiation – that is changing of your very substance. If you buy into one, remember for those who sell the most expensive latest and greatest drugs, a patient healed is a customer lost. So there is a huge incentive to get you to buy into perpetual “treatment” which is the Bread and Butter of Big Pharma.

For starters, feeling empty is a whole lot better than being anxious and concerned about this, that, and the other, which passes for “normal” these days and is IMO really what Jesus came to save us from since we can’t seem to help but have that judgmental mindset that Jesus taught and died to free us from.

Don’t be afraid to explore where it wants your thoughts to go. Just because you differ from someone doesn’t make you the sick one. So for starters, like I said empty is way better than anxious and fretful. If you were all bothered about stuff and get your jimmies rustled every time somebody says something you don’t like, then you would be more “normal” but more likely also more pitable IMO.

My guess is you are coherent and open to metacognition, thinking about your own thinking. That can take you a very long way, and shows already you’re less stuck than those who make things overly simplistic and almost certain to involve confirmation bias (they see what they expect to see) so they can check the box, clock out, and go home, and feel good about themselves as having “helped you”.

Sounds a lot like my life. I’m not suicidal, I just view life as pointless. No real hopes, dreams, passions, goals etc etc.
