Anyone watch the show? I’ve never felt so bad for a contestant on any show before than I did tonight. The guy was offered $218,000 I think and he turned it down. Well I probably would have taken that offer but given his board it wasn’t the worst move to keep going. What was terrible was when he continued to blow it and was offered $85,000 with no safety numbers. He gambled again and granted he is feeling down about the 200 grand I understand his decision to gamble. I may have gambled myself in that situation. However, gambling away at the next offer, $145,000 was ridiculous. He ended up with only $10 since he blew it after he turned down the $145,000. Most of his family were pressuring him to gamble as well. The guy looked like he really could have used the money too. Maybe he can make some money going on television describing what it’s like to gamble and blow away all that money and the pressures of the show. It’s really sad.

what is really sad is basing your financial future on gambling, and being made an object of entertainment while doing so.

If those people really needed the cash, they would have taken the deal.

greedy people get what they deserve

I do not think of it as gambling. They start with nothing and sometimes walk away with nothing - but they are playing a game. So be it.

BUT many of these people do have the greed factor working.

I’ve noticed that the show seems to be headed in a direction where the contestants are more and more “gamblers.” They don’t play it safe, and they often blow out entirely.

It’s good for the show because they pay out less money, but I really don’t enjoy watching people make stupid decisions. At least they’re not throwing away their own money.

I disagree, I think it is bad for the show. I think the show’s producers are dying to make a big payday because people watching want to see people win. Losing is not fun to watch.

I can’t stand ANY of these “greed & reality” shows.
Last year, when I had to stay at someone else’s home for six weeks, I had to watch ALL that stuff because that was ALL they watched.
I swore I’d never watch any of that crud again and I have kept my word to myself! 🙂

Not sure what’s wrong with Deal or No Deal. People are not even using their own money, they either make good choices and take home some likely much needed money, or they get greedy and take home very little. Seems like good lessons either way to me.

according to the Banker’s blog that is not the case and he is happy that people were stupid to sell their cases too early for much less than what they were woth.

I think it’s a good show, and I watch it often. I just showcases how greedy and stupid people can be. You’ll notice it’s usually their friends and relation that get them to turn down good offers. It’s just like real life. Remember the Masters son that was given his inheritance, and squandered it on drinking and prostitutes? We are all guilty of the same thing in a way. I know I am.

I don’t watch it anymore with the sexy attire of the “girls”.

I figure even if they come away with $50 that’s not bad for what amounts to half an hour of no work. I really have a hard time mustering up sympathy for anyone who walks away with “only” $10,000 for doing nothing more than guessing numbers. On a per-hour basis the typical Deal or No Dealer makes about as much as an NBA player, except they don’t even have to make free throws. Well they don’t really do that in the NBA anymore either…

I agree. However much they leave with, it’s pretty much free money. And I think that was the attitude of the guy who won the 10 dollars (not 10,000 dollars).

On the other hand, if I recall the show correctly, the man has been living in his sister’s home because he could not afford a place of his own, so she really seemed to want him to take a deal early on. Unfortunately for her, though, the guy listened to the really stupid advice of the 2 men who were with him and kept going on and on, with less and less chance of coming away with a decent prize. And he ended up walling away with 10 bucks.
