@dochawk, I agree with you with the definition of should, but the level of obligation is debatable. Again, that is the terminology of the US bishops on their website, that is why I do not think the priest was out of line with the wording. And, I will add, that definition of should, is why I choose to stand while receiving.
Same here. This priest simply wasn’t out of line.
 
Is it disobedient or disrespectful if I choose to keep kneeling?
If I felt an obligation to kneel during the Ordinary Form communion, I’d probably go up last not to make a scene. I think those people who kneel to “make a point” or “defy the moderns” are exploiting the Sacrifice of the Mass for an agenda. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth and come across as counter to the humiliation of Jesus that redeemed us from condemnation.
