Does anyone know where a guy could find a good source of free Catholic debates online? It’d be great to find podcasts, but I suspect that technology is too new.

I’d love to find some debates between the big Catholic apologists (Keating, Akin, Armstrong, Staples, etc.) and the evil empire of anti-Catholics like Bart Brewer and James White. If I have to pay for it, I’ll pay for it, but it seems like a few of the places I’ve looked have all offered to sell tapes–TAPES, if you can believe that.

Private message PhilVaz, I believe he has some saved.

I just sent you a PM with some links. Unfortunately, I can’t post one or two openly, but here are most of them (posted in excerpt from my PM to you) for everyone else who happens to be interested:

Most of the debates I’ve listened to have come to me, in one way or another, through PhilVaz. Here’s his site, but he doesn’t host any debates (yet). Even so, his “audio” link has a number of good real audio lectures (though, again, no debates). I’ve talked to him about it, and he plans to at some point. If you write him, he’ll send you a couple of CD’s worth of debates - that’s really your best option (I have the debates, but I haven’t taken the time/effort to find out how to host them online; apparently neither has he).
For now, though, there’s the Veritas forum, which is pretty good; unfortunately, you’re only going to find theist/atheist and relativist/objectivist debates there (or at least that’s all I’ve found). They have some good lectures, but the debates are few and far between. If it’s lectures you’re looking for, www.peterkreeft.com has some excellent stuff as well - but I digress. Straightgate was hosting some debates for a while, but I’m not sure they’re even around anymore.
…James White has almost all of his debates available for download on his site for something like a buck a piece (almost all, b/c he isn’t hosting one debate with Art Sippo where, apparently, he was completely housed).

Oh, and lest I forget, make sure to watch this 15-second audio-visual clip before you listen to a James White debate - it’s pretty good stuff. And perhaps read this.
Minus the stuff I’ve cut, that’s pretty much all of the online debates of which I’m aware.

God Bless,
RyanL

Thanks guys. And thanks Ryan for the good list in PM.

Like Crystal Meth, I know apologetics is bad for me but I just can’t seem to get sober.*

*No, I have never used Crystal Meth.

I was just listening to the Sippo debate - he really did a number on White, it was very enjoyable.

LISTENING to the Sippo debate? I guess I missed the link to that, but I’m perplexed–I thought all the tapes were mysteriously messed up? Where is this el dorado of debates?

They are sortof bad, not good enough to sell anyways, but they are audible and they become pretty clear halfway through.

Okay, maybe I am on meth–where’s the link? Can’t seem to find it…

I noticed my Veritas link was broken: here’s a good link. I think they had a good Atheist / Muslim debate…worth searching for…

God Bless,

So has anyone listened to these debates?

Here’s another:

americanpapist.com/smithvcurran.html

This is a debate on the morality of contraception, between Dr. Smith (who says artificial contraception is immoral) and Dr. Curran (a priest who says that artificial contraception is just fine).

Anyone else have more to add?

God Bless,
RyanL
