I’m in a heated debate right now that deals with alot of political matters that focusus on subjects I’m not used to debating on. See if you can help me come up with some good arguments to oppose these:

#1. My opposer believes we should legalize prostitution because driving it underground only makes it dangerous and looses the woman respect.

#2. My opposer believes marajuana should be legalized because it causes less damage than cigarrets and alchohol. Hence, no one dies from weed but they do from alcholhol and cigarrets.

There are cogent arguments on both issues; here are just a couple of points to start with.

In addition, there are guidelines here on CA about how to debate and win (as opposed to debating and turning off the person you are debating with). There is also the point that no one wins an argument.
  1. The victim of prostitution is the prostitute. [Not including the discussion point of transmission of sexually transmitted diseases and undermining any existing marital relationship; not including the issue of sin and offending God through the mechanism of violating the Commandment regarding the sanctity of marriage (Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery, which also covers fornication.]
  2. People certainly do die from marijuana use; you get zonked and step in front of a car or drive while impaired, you are just as dead as if you were drinking. And there are long term health impairments from breathing in all that smoke as well as possible chromosomal damage.
You can take these arguments and visit google and get more details.

I attended a school presentation on marijuana use and it was an amazing simplified scientific explanation of what happens to the brain from long term use. It literally, slowly starts shutting down the cognitive receptors and they do not come back, If you quit smoking cigarettes, after 5 years you lung has demonstrated its ability to regenerate, NOT the brain.
Research this on web, I am sure you will uncover the science. Also, the presenter used SE Asia, where Marijuana has been in use for eons as a living example. Some people are so brain dead they are almost vegitative. Look for stories regarding SE Asia as well.
