From the Catholic World Report:

"In 1970, there were more than 9,000 Catholic elementary schools in the U.S. enrolling some 3.4 million students; last year there were just over 5,000 schools with 1.2 million students… the numbers for non-school religious education itself are equally as bad as the numbers for schools. "

I am just heartbroken about this. What will happen to our grandchildren and their children? What can we do? What about asking priests to add a prayer for Catholic schools to every Mass?

We will need to circle the wagons around the remaining successful schools and support them with everything we’ve got. This will require us to physically move if necessary. The schools will thus effectively become Benedict Option communities.
