In 1955, Pope Pius XII established May 1 as the feast of St. Joseph the Worker (now an optional memorial). I cannot locate the name or text of the decree accomplishing that. Many online sources point to Divini Redemptoris - which cannot be true as it was issued in 1937 by Pope Pius XI. Does anyone have either the name or the text?

I wonder why it’s so hard to pin down? Google isn’t helpful, it just keeps re-iterating that he established it in 1955.
I went to the Vatican website, to the page for Pius XII’s documents, and couldn’t find anything. But some are just in Latin, maybe someone else would have better luck.

The feast was established in Acta Apostolicae Sedis #47, on page 406.

Thanks. I had this doc reference as well. The page reference helped. I couldn’t find it in Latin because the decree appears in Italian. Since I don’t know Italian, this is the Google translations of the page

workers or other children of the people.
This duty and commitment We, Vicar of Christ, desire to highly reaffirm, here, on this day of the “First of May”, that the world of the work it has awarded to itself, as its own party, with the intent it gives let everyone recognize the dignity of work, and that it inspires social life and the laws, based on the fair sharing of rights and duties. Thus welcomed by Christian workers, and almost receiving the Christian Chrism, the I. May, far from being the awakening of discord, of hatred and violence, is and will be a recurring invitation to modern society to accomplish what is still lacking in social peace. Christian holiday, therefore; that is, day of jubilation for the concrete and progressive triumph Christian ideals of the great family of work. In order for this meaning to be present, and in a certain way which one immediate exchange for the numerous and precious gifts brought to us by every region of Italy, we love to announce our determination to you to institute - as we actually establish - the liturgical feast of St. Joseph the craftsman, assigning it precisely on May 1st. Dear beloved workers, this Our gift? We are sure that yes, because the humble craftsman of Nazareth not only impersonates near God and the Holy Church the dignity of the worker of the arm, but he is also always the provident custodian of you and your families With such wish on the lips and in the heart, beloved sons and daughters, and with the…
