**"but Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Mt 19:14).

"“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” (Jer 1:5)

Taking Scripture passages out of context that speak of death will never excuse the atrocity of fathers and mothers murdering their own innocent babies!**

can you explain the verse the article attempts to use to claim it?

so an atheist i know gave me this reference and I need help refuting it -

freethought.mbdojo.com/jesuswasprochoice.html

i know it takes the Scriptures out of context but I need help explaining it!

thanks
The problem with the Ex 22:22-25 verse is the translation. Most translations make it clear that there is monetary damages if there is premature birth, but no injury, but if there is injury (i.e., the baby dies), then it is life for life. This article twists the meaning of the versee to say exactly the opposite (satan at work, twisting scripture to change the truth).

You can compare 8 or more english translations, and virtually all but the NASB make this clear - but even NASB uses the word “miscarraige” which just means premature birth (not loss of the baby). But to eliminate any doubt, if you read the original hebrew, you will find the word (translated in NASB as miscarraige) is [yatsa’ /yaw·tsaw/] - and that word really means to “come out” with no implication of loss of life - the text which follows makes it clear “without injury” - so the text is actually distinguishing between if the baby lives (damages) v. baby suffers injury (loss of life), in which case its life for life.

Blessings,

Brian

It should be clear that you can take verses out of the bible to justify anything from alien abductions (Gen 28:12, 2kgs 2:11), to murdering someone because they didn’t go to church on sunday(Ex 31:12-18) or for adultry(Lev 20:10)
The verses your link uses are all taken out of context…
Here are some prolife verses that prove that life begins @ conception:
Ps 51:7 - my mother concieved ME,
Is 66:9 - let a child be born
Jer 1:5 - before I formed you in the womb I knew you
Mt 1:20 - this child has been concieved
Or my favorite
Lk 1:41-44 child leaped in her womb, and Mary, who recently concieved is called the mother of the lord, not just. A fetus…
