How many times does the fact that abortion is only a small portion of the service it provides have to be repeated. PP is not an abortion mill, and it is not part of some secret eugenics movement.
Although I understand why this is an important issue to many of you, I would prefer that your energy and money be used to provide alternative services like adoption and education rather than seeking to deny poor people access to services they are legally entitled to and need.
PP has an abortion-first mentality. Abortion is NOT only a small portion of the service they provide, no matter how much they twist the facts and try to say women have more contraceptive “visits” than abortion “visits”. They say this because they count one pill as a visit even if 12 pills were given to a woman on her single trip to the clinic. In reality, abortions FAR outweigh adoption referrals or prenatal care given by PP, and their abortion rate is rising. Why? Abortion is extremely lucrative. Quite frankly, handing out free condoms isn’t. They are working to disallow any of their clinics to choose not to do abortions. Where is THEIR choice?
Here are the shocking facts:

Margaret Sanger, was a devout racist who created the Negro Project designed to sterilize unknowing black women and others she deemed as undesirables of society? The founder of Planned Parenthood said, “Colored people are like human weeds and are to be exterminated.” How is her vision being fulfilled today? Blacks make up 12% of the population, but 35% of the abortions in America. They are the only minority in America that is on the decline in population. If the current trend continues, by 2038 the black vote will be insignificant. Minority women constitute only about 26% of the female population (age 15-44) in the United States, but they underwent approximately 36% of the abortions. According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, black women are more than 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion.

Pro-Life organizations ARE working to provide adoption services, as well as all the life-saving tests and procedures that PP provides. However, they do it without killing babies or handing out contraceptives. If you are a Catholic, which you should be if you are commenting on this forum, you cannot believe contraception is a moral or permissable option for us. Catholic women do just fine without. These services that prolife organizations do NOT provide are not “services [the poor]… need.” No one NEEDS contraception.

If Planned Parenthood really cared about the poor they could teach Natural Family Planning which costs aproximately nothing and does not increase the risk of heart disease, breast cancer, and underweight babies in future pregnancies. Promoters of hormonal contraceptives and abortion cannot say that.

The Missionaries of Charity have been successfully teaching NFP to to illiterate women in India and Africa for years, as well as to semi-literate poor women in America. The difference is that Mother Teresa’s order is truly a non-profit organization and does not need women to become repeat customers.

I will believe all of the above, only when the majority of Catholic women of child bearing age use NFP here in the states. I don’t believe that Missionaries of Charity have been “successful” teaching it to illiterate women. Think about that statement – Smart, educated women don’t / won’t use it for obvious reasons, but you would have us believe that it works for the illiterate? Do you have a source to back up such a statement? I think Catholic women would like a chance to review the findings.

Also, your name, Personanongrata, makes me believe that you are not even Catholic as you already have given yourself a name which implies you are unwanted and unliked Let me make it clear…if you support abortion you are NOT Catholic, which I don’t believe you are anyway. These “attack” statements are the truth,. you cannot make yourself an authority by simply saying, “I don’t care.” or “It makes no difference to me.” You are trying to stir up trouble which your name implies. You gave yourself away. I will pray for you. You are in great need of prayer. I leave you to you erroneous thoughts and statements and hope somewhere down the line God will have Mercy on you and give you the Grace to be a believer. Mercy which you are unwilling to extend to the unborn children whose “silent scream” your compassionate self has turned a deaf ear to.
Thank you for praying for me. I will do the same for you.

Well it seems that some of the states are beginning to defund PP.but the federal funding is another issue.I think one thing is certain the Democratic party won’t vote to defund it at least not in the near future.I believe the Reps.are going to have to be in a majority for any such legistlation to be passed and considerable compromises will have to be made.Obama is very pro choice.

If you go in to some Planned Parenthood offices for anything but an abortion, they’ll tell you to go somewhere else for help. It was originated to eliminate the Black race. Defund and kill the orginization.

Don’t worry. Planned Parenthood is not going anywhere. Women simply will not allow that to happen.
I disagree! I am a woman and I will vote against supporting Planned Parenthood. I live in a state that just defunded Planned Parenthood. Private donations have flowed into it since the defunding, and that is fine with me. I just don’t want to ever have any of my tax money supporting abortion. There are many other ways to support poor women than to encourage abortion. Since healthcare issues are so key in this administration and a healthcare reform has been voted on, I see no reason for women to have a separate clinic like PP. If private funds want to come pouring in from progressives such as yourself, then so be it. It is a free country and we can all support anyplace we see fit.
