WASHINGTON, Nov. 13 (UPI) – The incoming U.S. Congress will review the law mandating 700 miles of fence along the U.S.-Mexico border, and may seek to scrap the plan altogether.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., told reporters this week that he expected to “re-visit” the issue when he becomes chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee in the 110th Congress, which has a Democratic Party majority.

He said that the high technology Secure Border Initiative, or SBI Net – essentially a set of monitors, cameras and other integrated surveillance systems to monitor the border – was a viable alternative.

Good. It’s a goofy idea anyway. I kind of viewed it as the Maginot Line of immigaration.

Goodness, I guess it was time for me to logoff last night. Misspelled immigration? Wow.

Looking for more Democrat voters I suspect.

Those thousands of immigrants are not here legally. We need to change the laws to let them in properly so they can earn a fair living. Not sub-living wages.

I don’t think we need to change the laws to allow more Mexicans in than people from other countries, and we certainly shouldn’t say “it’s alright that they break the law by sneaking into the country illegally so long as they are Catholic”.

So much for Homeland Security. Heard just yesterday that border guards had stopped four or six (can’t remember which) radical Muslims from coming across the border. I just wish the Dems “got it”.

I never thought the fence would do much good anyway. If there are jobs for them here they will come. What we need to do is start drying up the job market for them. If a company is found to be hiring illegal immigrants the CEO or owner should be fined $50,000 and sent to jail for 1 year for each illegal on the payroll. We should deport all illegals as soon as we can find them and if we find that they return after being deported put them in prison for 2 years.

They want to use a “virtual fence” [no joke] … I assume to stop “virtual trespassers” [sarcasm].
