Historically, the Church was obsessed with being Anti-Communist from 1945 to the end
of the USSR…they dropped that and took up the Abortion issue as an obsession.
While they were doing that they looked over the heads of priests who were doing
things to children that Christ once said that it would be better for a man to have a large
rock tied to his neck and thrown into the sea than to harm a child.
I think Christ would not recognize our Roman Church as it is today.

Thank you so much for your civil response–perhaps I should not have given up on my campaign to educate and elucidate on this issue. I agree with you completely. I have often made the point to others that if we cant win on the abortion issue except by misrepresenting the law and the facts, there is something very wrong with our argument. Being a lawyer (dont hold it against me) I have tracked the law on the abortion issue for thirty years and believe there is an argument for essentially eliminating abortion within Roe v Wade if anyone would bother to make it, but cant convince anyone because they accept the premise that the law in our country supports “abortion on demand from conception to birth.” This is not true but you would be hard pressed to find a Catholic who doesn’t believe it. Is it possible to have a reasoned debate on the law without being accused of being a heretic or apostate?

There are no facts contained in this post. Why is “abortion” in parenthesis?

Also, do you people get this upset if your private health insurance plan covers abortion?
Good comment. Excellent point.

Very good post!!

Enough! This is not a rightwing scare tactic, nor deception, nor a lie.
factcheck.org/2009/08/abortion-which-side-is-fabricating/
Factcheck.org says this will fund abortions.
The Capps language also would allow private plans purchased with federal subsidies (“affordability credits” for low-income families and workers) to cover abortion.
Historically, the Church was obsessed with being Anti-Communist from 1945 to the end
of the USSR…
And this is bad why? Communists killed millions of people.
they dropped that and took up the Abortion issue as an obsession.
Because abortion was then perhaps the greatest killer.

First of all, they’ve stopped that, and are now fighting pedophile priests. Second, it’s not either or, they can fight both. Third, abortion also harms children.
I think Christ would not recognize our Roman Church as it is today.
Why do you think that? Do you think He would approve of abortion

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)
This is what a fetus looks like. Would He approve of someone killing that?
I suggest all of you who think Obama will include Abortion coverage in the “Public Option”
you need to read the Hyde Amendment that does not permit the US govt to pay for
abortion service.
Not directly anyway. Read the factcheck article
The vocal conservative minority that is doing everything in their power to beat back any meaningful health care reform.
I actually support universal healthcare as the USCCB says we should. However, the USCCB has said it won’t support legislation that funds abortion. I will not support a bill that pays to kill anyone, be it grandma or a child.

Also, it’s not a minority that opposes this bill. Back on August 15 54% of Americans said doing nothing would be better than passing this. It may be more by now.

you need to read the Hyde Amendment that does not permit the US govt to pay for
abortion service. This law was affirmed by the Supreme Court.
You see this is a typical tactic of the RIGHT…create a false premise than attack it.
Its like the Death Panels;;;;;;;create a strawman then attack it.

If Obama was as bad as the RIGHT says,he would have had Limbaugh, Hannity
and Beck arrested a long time ago and charged with treason.
We live in the US. Everyone has the RIGHT to speak their minds…although with The Obama Agenda and his socialistic tendency our constitutional rights may be taken away.

I am on my way to Chapel and I will offer a prayer for you and those who defend the actions of those who fail to see the harm that is being done on behalf of those who worship a man instead of Our Father.

The Republican agenda of lies and deceit will not work. They let the corporations lead us into the present financial crisis, They are the party of no. Here is a list of things the Republicans voted against.

It is obvious they are not out to help American families. They want America to fail, and they have said so many times.

The Republican agenda of lies and deceit will not work.
I never realised factcheck.org worked for the republican party. Guess what else? Also according to factcheck, not everyone will be able to keep their care under Obama’s plan. Someone certainly has an agenda of lies and deceit.
They let the corporations lead us into the present financial crisis,
I didn’t realise Frank or Dodd were republicans.
They are the party of no.
You gotta have someone to fight the next trillion dollar spending bill.

    *** funding for science and technology research**;
What kind of science and technology research? ESCR? Something useless? And why should we be spending money on rural broadband when we’re already in such debt?

And despite all that they’ve voted against, none of those trump the basic right to live.

Sounds like the old children’s banter Well he started it.
GOP were not saints, but you can not spend your way out of debt. And printing money will make the dollar fall on the world market. It already has. And with the proposals now in congress it will be much worse.
Fix the things needed to be fixed and move on. Looking back and blaming the GOP will not help solve the current problem.

And if they congress do not read the bills they are passing like the stimulus then my vote goes to whoever runs against them.

Good Post!!

It is obvious they are not out to help American families.
And the other people are?
They want America to fail, and they have said so many times.
That is a lie. What was said was they want certain policies to fail because they think if those policies succeed it would be bad for America, as in they actually don’t want them to be failures.

Now I want you all to explain exactly why internet broadband or neighborhood electric vehicles (similiar to golf carts) trump the right to life and how you can morally throw away the right to life for those.

As pope John Paul said :
Above all, the common outcry, which is justly made on behalf of human rights-for example the right to health, to home, to work, to family, to culture, is false and illusory if the right to life, the most basic and fundamental right and the condition for all other personal rights, is not defended with maximum determination.
Are you honestly trying to defend what you think is moral or are you just defending your favorite politician?

Well as long as there is no two-for-one discount under ObamaCare, maybe we should consider ourselves lucky. 😃

The link I provided previously gives Cardinal Rigali’s letter from the USCCB to congress expressing the non-acceptability of HR 3200 from a Catholic standpoint, precisely because abortion is not excluded.

The USCCB favors health care reform. The current bill does not exclude abortion funding. If the congress wanted to specifically exclude abortion funding in order to gain Catholic support, it would be easy enough to do. But legislative amendments to do so have been rejected, because this Democratic congress has no intention of excluding abortion funding.

With respect to abortion on demand: Roe v Wade tried to impose a trimester agenda.
1st trimester. The state cannot prohibit abortion.
2nd trimester. The state can regulate and limit abortion, but there must always be an exception allowing abortion for the life or health of the mother.
3rd trimester: The state may prohibit abortion, but there must always be an exception for the life or health of the mother.

Doe v Bolton: Defined “health” in such expansive terms as to allow it to mean virtually anything that an abortionist wishes it to mean.

For Kansas, which in law prohibits abortion after viability, this expansive definition of “health” meant that we became a late term abortion mecca for the country. The supposed trimester theory of Roe was meaningless in view of Doe’s broad brush expansion of the meaning of “health of the mother.”

Abortion on demand? Yes. Because of Roe, and Doe, and and the subsequent court determinations.

Wow, aren’t you being a strong Catholic talking about the church in such away. Nobody in the church is impeccable and what’s priests and children got to do with abortion? Also Christ would never foresake His church.

So who exactly is answering here.

jjdrury81 or Seeker100?

I am beginning to wonder if they are one in the same.

Seeing the preponderance of their responses coincide, and apparently they answer questions posed to each other interchangeably…
