I would love for this to happen all around the United States.

Abortion Issue Focus of Dem Bid to Oust Santorum

(CNSNews.com) - Even though the 2006 elections are more than 14 months away, Democratic leaders have already decided that their best shot at unseating Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum is to run a pro-life candidate.

The contest has already drawn national attention. “There is no higher priority for our party” than seeing Santorum re-elected, Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman said, because the staunchly conservative and pro-life senator is “a man of conviction.”

I doubt that it could happen in Chicago either. I have sent an email to both of my Senators and told them the only way I could ever vote Democrat again in the state of Illinois is if they were prolife Democrats. I got a fairly nasty response from Durbin that I thought was condescending IMHO.

Think they’ll let Robert Casey Jr (the candidate mentioned in the article as being put forward by the Democrats) have a voice at their convention and in their party? The way they treated his father was scandalous.

A lot of people in this state remember that. Casey was a class act and a decent man with principles.*

*This concludes my annual foray into the politically-oriented forums.

I really doubt that a prolife candidate won’t survive the Democrat Party. It will be almost a lone voice.

Absolutely, sad to see the pro-life position reduced to poltical calculus, one of the reasons I finally left the party. BUT on a positive note, maybe the pro-lifers are making more in-roads and the Dems are seeing reality!

I heard some very good news today about a related topic. If it’s true, then we’ll all hear about it over the next few days.
