Yesterday, my best friend told me that he has been seeing dark shadowy figures over the past month or so. He described them as human-shaped and usually about twenty feet away. He’s had a couple of concussions from football over the past two years; could it be from the concussion or some medical issue? Or, could this be a demonic apparition? Could it be satan? My advice to him was that he should see a doctor and a priest. What do you guys think?

I would see a doctor first. He may have migrane headaches from the injury which cause people to see strange shapes… he could also see an eye doctor, b/c he may have problems with his eyes. In the mean time, sprinkly holy water around the house couldn’t hurt… and if the meds turn out ok, then he should see a priest if it keeps contiuning…

thanks. it’s strange, because normally i wouldn’t really suspect a demonic apparition; it’s just that i have this really strange, inexplicable feeling about this.

Second this advice. On two occaisions I’ve thought I saw or heard something demonic and there was really a “worldly” explanation. But a blessing never hurts anything. 🙂

Hmmm. My advice would be to see a Dr. since he has had cocussions recently. The first thin I would want to know is if it could possibly be from that.

Demonic figures is possible I guess, I have never heard of an experience quite like that.

Here is a site that might have some info, also google “Catholic spiritual warfare” there are some others out there too.

I would try not to let your friend get too worried about demonic things, first try to explain it medically, especially if there isn’t anything else that is happening that worries him. Also, don’t be surprised if you get the brush off from a priest, unfortunately, that is common.

What does your friend think about it. Did he say anything about demonic apparitions, or did you bring it up. If it came from him, or if he has the same feeling about it, that might mean something, especially if he also doesn’t tend to think of those things.

he just wants to ignore the whole thing. i told him he should definitely go see a doctor, but he said his parents will think he’s crazy. i didn’t really talk much to him about the demonic apparition thing (because i think it would be best to rule out a medical issue first and because i don’t want to scare him second, although i brought it up. he was concerned enough to tell me, but he doesn’t seem overly-worried. so far there hasn’t been any interaction with the blob–it just appears and disappears.

He must see a doctor. It would be alright to ask him if you can pray over him or with him. Love him.

We all see unexpected shadows now and then. Does this person usually see shadows in the day or at night? If at night, I often see unexpected shadows caused by car lights passing near the house.

Or maybe it is the Boogy-Man?

What you are discribing gives me chills. I have been put in the hospital 5 times the last year because of dark shadows around and in people. He will have to see a Dr. I was diagnosed with pschycosis due to depression. Easy enough. But continue to pray for him and with him if possible. For me, no amount of medicine in the world will convince me what I saw wasn’t real. This happened to me during a very decisive point in my spiritual life. Is he Catholic? Have him talk to a Priest. Annoiting of the sick comes to mind. A Priest will accept that request from a Catholic. Get him checked out, make sure his head is on straight. Tim

The first step is to get to the dr and have possible physical causes checked. (Even if it were to be demonic apparitions, which isn’t impossible, ruling out physical causes is the first step–so may as well do that.)

Call it “visual disturbances” and have him get to the dr. It could be something like a detached retina–treatable, but the longer it goes, the likelier there will be permanent blindness. (At least, that’s a physical cause that could be related to the traumas suffered. I’m sure there’s others, but that’s the first one that pops to mind.)

Of course, if all physical causes get ruled out, then that’s another situation.

Most of the advice here is sound. Seeing a doctor is a good idea.

You may be surprised to know that there are many who see “Shadow People”. Everyone seems to have a different take on it. Some are very disturbed by them others just ignore them as a natural everyday sort of thing.

Do they bother your friend or is he just making note of the phenominon? If he is suffering no ill of them then I wouldn’t worry too much. Just make sure that he’s OK physically and then take it from there.

For good measure, have your friend go to confession. The devil has no power over you if you are in a state of grace.

Don’t forget about the St. Michael Prayer… a powerful weapon against Satan! It never hurts to add it to your nightly prayers, along with a blessing of holy water, even if you have never seen a shadow! My family does it nightly…kids and all.

St. Michael the Archangel
defend us in the day of battle.
Be our protection against the
wickedness and snares of the Devil.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the power of God,
thrust into Hell, Satan and all evil spirits
who prowl the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen 👍
