A very sad story . . . for those who do not look at the link, it is Australian residency that has been denied to this young man.

it is a question of the cost implications to the community…”

It is sad when economics desides who is worthy…

“If we did not have a health requirement, the costs to the community and health system would not be sustainable,” the statement said.
This is sad, discriminatory, and horrible, really.

But I don’t see why ‘universal healthcare’ is to blame. The ‘health requirement’ for immigration is the real culprit, and my country, which has universal healthcare, does not have a ‘health requirement’ for immigration.

Don’t insurance companies in the US have health requirements that make it difficult to get insurance when you most need it?

Yeah its called cherrypicking… insurance is denied to the sickest because of the cost to the company. But we have to beware also of countries who are legalizing euthanasia and will start to pay for drugs for people to kill themselves, but deny coverage for certain more expensive procedures. They already do it in Oregon on the medicaid plan there I believe and would not be suprised if this is the case in other countries. The culture of death is looming and on the verge of some big gains sadly… forcing draconian policies on us all.
