This is something I’m going to put together if it doesn’t exist, but I was wondering if anyone has seen something like this out there…

Is there a chart listing all the major Christian denominations and, say, columns of doctrines they do or do not believe in? For example–across the top you could have Catholic, Orthodox, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, etc. Down the side you could have Trinity, Baptism (sprinkle), Baptsim (full-immersion), Real Presence, etc.

The purpose, obviously, would be to illustrate how the “Body of Christ” is divided, despite what the Protestants say. They always say the Church has many parts, functions, etc, but “agree on the important stuff.” I don’t think this is true, and I want to have a handy reference guide. But I also don’t want to reinvent the wheel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
MM

Be careful of books that claim to explain what each faith believes. A fundie friend of mine loaned me such a book and in the Catholic chapter, gave enough of a mix to really give the wrong impression. There was some accurate info mixed in with very misleading info. Plus a lot of personal opinion.

If I hadn’t known better, I would have been turned off the to the Catholic Church just by reading this book. I can tune out the opinions but the author left out some critical information on things like mortal sin.

Needless to say, I didn’t read the other chapters. Didn’t trust them after that.

I read an article where a Catholic priest was showing the weak points of a Protestant’s writings. The Protestant filed law suits against the priest for quoting him.

I wonder why? (not really)

Most Protestants rely on emotion and not scriptural foundation or even logic. Though they portray that they are experts at the bible they are not.

I read where there are now about 25000 Protestant denominations. Sounds like a long book you intend to write.

Peace in Christ,

I believe that the book “Faith of our Fathers” has some charts of this type. I don’t know how comprehensive they are though.
