Those who start thinking about taking their own life and are not repelled by the idea have had their vision of reality messed up. It is like having glasses on that screen the goodness and possibilities of life out. Life seems flat, pointless. Things that used to be pleasurable lose meaning. You may feel not so much as if no one cares as you might feel that you aren’t worth bothering anyone with. That is: No one cares, and they are right. You might think that anyone who does care is wasting their time, because they wouldn’t care if they really knew what you were worth.

At that point, the person needs outside help, and right away. You can’t just talk yourself out of it, any more than you can pretend that you think 2+2=5 when you know it equals 4. The pretending just makes you feel worse.

I’m not an expert. I can’t tell you what brings it on or why it seems to be increasing. As far as where God is: well, we are the Body of Christ. At least part of the answer looks back from the mirror.
