I’ve taken a peak around the web but have not found anything great…

This past Sunday I went to mass with a kind of weird group. My grandma, a Catholic friend, an ex-Catholic Protestant friend (who believes in some Protestant theology but thinks that their church services tend to stink), and my brother’s (ex-Catholic, now Protestant) girlfriend - who has been Protestant from the cradle.

I’m looking for a good, relialable and professional place online that gives a brief explanation of the mass to my brother’s girlfriend. Obviously Bible citations are helpful, and of course a good explination of our understanding of Communion. It shouldn’t be a boring read, though. 🙂 Mostly I think that what might be helpful is something that could pique her interest. She’s nondenominational, and it seems like she doesn’t know a whole lot about Catholicism. The homily was kind of bad this week, and I feel like without a proper understanding of Communion (and what a homily should be), she’s going to walk away thinking that a Catholic “service” is just like a Protestant one, except with less contemporary music. 😛 I want her to see that what is done in a mass is different than just a… bible study with music.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I think your first idea is best, actually attend Mass and let Jesus do the teaching. The best book on the Mass is How To Book of the Mass from Our Sunday Visitor. Best video is A Walk Through the Mass with Bishop Wuerl from Ignatius Press. I am sure somebody else will give you a website, but none of these will compare to actually participating in the Mass (no one will be receiving communion of course until they are fully united with the Church and in a state of grace).

Yes, I already took her to mass. The tip about communion was unnecessary but appreciated just the same. 🙂
