Get an exercise room, avoid Yoga as its Hindu religion.

Find managable way to deal with stress.
Deep breathing and meditation are also off limits? Seriously? And prostrating myself in front of the Exposed Blessed Sacrament is a no-no because Muslims pray in this posture? Come on. 😉

Old thread, but for new readers building a house, make sure your builder does pre-design soil borings (including water table determination), checks local flood maps and adequately grades the lot AWAY from the house. Almost any other screwup is fixable. These are forever.

Interesting topic; I didn’t know so many have thought about this.

Visitability is high on my list so:
  • zero step entry
  • 1st floor doorways are 36 inches wide
  • 1/2 bath (at minimum) on 1st floor
Also, ideally:

4 bedrooms - Master, boys room, girls room and extra (guest room or extra room in case you have 7 boys and 1 girl ;))

(…).
I’m adding to this…I’m not sure how it would look in a plan, especially with a bathroom as I described or even an Jack-and-Jill bath, but I would try to put a swing bedroom in between the boys and girls bedrooms in case there was the 7 boys and 1 girl scenario. The swing bedroom would be open to the bedroom that had a significant majority number of occupants. If the number was even or close to it, the room could be used as a walk in closet/storage.

Has anyone ever seen a gazebo (enclosed) or shed used as a chapel? I have a shed for storage and I’ve seen similar ones in my neighborhood and I think one is used as a man-cave. Fixed up differently I think a shed could be set up as a chapel.
