Hello,
I have a couple issues- if anyone can give a good answer, from a catholic moral perspective, I’d appreciate it.

I was asked to interview and transcribe these taped interviews with several people about their life experiences. A couple said things about people that were not good. Is it totally okay to release these transcripts even though they have detracting comments?

My other issue is this: is it okay to discuss mis-deeds of a group with a member of the group - for my personal good- even though it could reflect badly on those in charge?

Not enough information. Maybe you’re trying to avoid revealing certain details, but it is too vague for me to know the nature of what you are describing.

Oops gotta go.

WHY were you asked to interview these people?

WHAT is the intended use of the transcripts?

Have the people interviewed been informed their works will be made public?

As for your other issue, what mis-deeds? And how is it for your personal good?

 Thanks for the replys. The interviews were of older people- about their life experiences as Sisters. There is going to be an anniversary celebration of their community down the road and they may wish to use these for something at that time. I was asked to interview these Sisters now while they are still alive and able to communicate. They have a historical perspective.

The “mis-deeds” previously mentioned of a group refers to not following policies that they were supposed to.

:o

Does anyone have an answer? In reference to the discussin faults “for my personal good” - I’m not trying to be selfish - I would like to discuss these issues because of my involvment with the group.

In regard to the interviews, I feel that I should not fiddle with the text of what the people said - what they said is what they said, but still I don’t like to put bad light on people’s character. These reflections were from people in their eighties or beyond of their earlier years.

“I was asked to interview these Sisters now while they are still alive and able to communicate. They have a historical perspective.”

Ask the person who asked you to do the interviews. Ask them if they’d like you to edit out some derogatory remarks made about persons.
