Technically they’re called theophoric names, because they contain the name of a god (theos meaning god in Greek). Michael for example means ‘who is like El?’. Hebrew isn’t the only that does this. Christopher is a theophoric name meaning Christ-bearer for example. Or the name Mary might well be a borrowing from the very common ancient Egyptian name ‘mrjt + name of god’ which means beloved of X god.
